Architectural Control Committee (ACC) Guidelines

The Architectural Control Committee (ACC) reviews requests for additions or changes to existing structures and/or developed lots. This review ensures that all improvements:

  • Conform to the community’s Declaration, Bylaws, and Policies

  • Meet or exceed established standards

  • Comply with local city codes and permit requirements

  • Blend with other improvements within the Hulen Heights community

Projects requiring ACC approval include, but are not limited to:

  • Exterior decorations or painting

  • Major landscaping changes

  • Roof or exterior surface repairs/replacements

  • Solar panel installations

  • Swimming pools, patios, patio covers, and gazebos

  • Storage sheds and other outdoor structures

Submitting a Request

Homeowners must submit detailed plans and specifications for all proposed changes. Submissions should include the nature, kind, shape, height, materials, and location of all landscaping or construction improvements. Plans must be submitted at least thirty (30) days prior to the proposed project start date.

All requests should be directed to the Hulen Heights HOA, in care of the Association Manager, using the official ACC Request Form and any applicable checklists.

Why ACC Review Matters

The ACC review process is designed to protect both homeowners and the community. It helps ensure that your project complies not only with HOA standards but also with city permitting and building codes. Beginning work without required ACC approval or city permits can result in costly delays, fines, or having to redo completed work.

How the ACC Supports You

The ACC is here to help you complete appropriate improvements and repairs. Before beginning a major project, we strongly encourage you to reach out to the committee for guidance. The ACC can walk you through the guidelines, policies, city permit considerations, and approval process so your project runs smoothly.

Although the committee has up to 30 days to review submitted plans, reviews are typically completed much sooner. If additional time is required, you will be notified.

Emergency Situations
In the event of an emergency, please take immediate steps to secure your property and then contact the ACC directly for assistance.

Home Improvement Compliance Checklist

Before starting any project:

  1. Submit your ACC Request Form with all required plans and specifications.

  2. Wait for ACC approval before beginning work.

  3. Confirm and obtain any necessary city permits (building, electrical, plumbing, etc.).

  4. Retain copies of your ACC approval and city permits for your records.

  5. Begin work only after both ACC approval and city permits are secured.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
